In a leaner and more efficient Local Government the role of the supervisor or first line manager is vital in continuing to provide good quality competitive services. It involves solving problems and converting broader objectives into day-to-day plans as well as still having a day job to do. This course is intended as an introduction to the requirements of the role, a chance to develop new and existing supervisory skills and to develop a personal development plan relating to individual needs. By the end of the course participants will have produced a personal development plan in relation to their supervisory role and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the supervisors role and the ability to use a wide range of approaches to suit different situations
