Working in Local Government is complex and often difficult. The pressures that this brings can result in some staff members feeling unable to cope. Counselling is a skill and involves helping people to manage and cope effectively with their situation using the resources available to them. This course will enable participants to carry out this activity more professionally whilst appreciating the boundaries of the role. Having attended this course participants will have developed the key and core skills needed to identify situations where a counseling approach would be useful and how to carry out a counseling session.
